TDEE
Also known as: Total Daily Energy Expenditure
What it actually is
TDEE = BMR (basal metabolic rate, calories burned at rest) + activity calories + thermic effect of food (calories burned digesting). For an average Pakistani office worker: ~1,800 kcal for women, ~2,400 kcal for men. Athletes can hit 3,000–4,000.
Why it matters for Pakistanis
To lose weight, eat 300–500 kcal below TDEE. To maintain, eat at TDEE. To gain muscle, eat 100–300 above. There are free online calculators — use one once and you'll never guess again.
