What it actually is

Preserving lean mass during weight loss is critical. Lose 10 kg of fat — fantastic. Lose 10 kg of muscle alongside — disaster: lower metabolism, sagging skin, weaker body, almost certain regain.

Why it matters for Pakistanis

Crash diets and extreme fasts strip muscle. Adequate protein (1.6–2.2g/kg body weight) plus resistance training preserves lean mass while you lose fat.
