Intermittent Fasting
Also known as: IF, Time-Restricted Eating
What it actually is
Common patterns: 14:10 (gentle), 16:8 (popular), 18:6 (advanced). Improves insulin sensitivity, may aid weight loss, supports cellular repair (autophagy). Not for everyone — caution in pregnancy, eating disorders, or for women with hormonal issues.
Why it matters for Pakistanis
Pakistani Muslims already practice it during Ramadan. A simple 12-hour overnight fast (e.g., 8pm to 8am) is gentle and effective for most. Aggressive fasts can disrupt women's hormones — start gradual.
