Daal (Lentils)

What it actually is
Different daals: chana (split chickpea), masoor (red lentil), moong (mung bean), mash (urad), arhar (toor). Glycemic index ranges 8–30 — among the lowest of any food. Per cooked cup: 18–24g protein, 8–15g fibre.
Why it matters for Pakistanis
If you have one Pakistani superfood, it's daal. Diabetic, PCOS, weight loss, vegetarian — daal serves them all. Eat at least 1 katori daily.
